Jim Parker is a long-standing Trustee of the Devon Cricket Foundation, having joined the board in 2018.

Jim's lifelong passion for sport and extensive professional experience bring invaluable insight to the Devon Cricket Foundation (DCF). His love for cricket spans more than five decades, playing for and now chairing Barton CC.

An ECB Level Two and Core Coach, Jim has been actively involved in youth cricket in South Devon and Devon for over 30 years and currently serves as coach/manager of the Devon Under 15 and Under 16 CAG squads and is Chair of Devon County Age Groups, fostering the development of young talent and promoting the future of the game.

Professionally, Jim has spent more than 50 years as a journalist, with much of his career dedicated to covering news and events in Torbay, South Devon and across the county. He established his own media and business consultancy, and is now deeply involved in a new publishing venture, serving as Editor-in-Chief for weekly newspapers and websites as well as launching magazines and awards events that reach audiences across the county.

In addition to his media expertise, Jim is a prominent figure in community and business leadership. He chairs the strategic private/public sector Torbay Place Leadership Board as well as seats on various business bodies including the English Riviera Tourism Company and Torbay Business Forum executive.

His active life in the community includes chairing Sport Torbay and as a trustee of Torbay Communities working with 700 voluntary sector groups, reflecting his dedication to driving collaboration and supporting sports development at all levels.

Jim's combined experience in journalism, community leadership, and cricket coaching places him in a unique position to contribute to the DCF’s mission of enriching lives through the power of cricket.

"My particular expertise is focused on performance-related cricket and marketing/communications, and I hope to utilise those skills in developing, promoting and telling the Devon Cricket story.

"Cricket, and sport in general, play a huge part in people's everyday life both physically and mentally. Sport means a more vibrant, happy and healthier community and cricket for all is key to that."
