The Devon Cricket Foundation is looking for clubs and venues across the county to help get walking cricket off the ground next summer.
Walking cricket is an inclusive and slower-paced version of the game, designed to make cricket accessible to people of all ages and fitness levels, especially older adults.
In order to help facilitate the growth of walking cricket across the county, we have partnered up with Age UK Devon to provide support to clubs and venues, which will include practical advice and provision of equipment. Financial assistance may also be possible, but we cannot guarantee funding at this time.
The Foundation is aware of the challenges many clubs face in finding and retaining volunteers, and that hosting Walking Cricket may not be for everyone. However, these sessions should only require a small, dedicated group of like-minded individuals to get it going.
Why host walking cricket?
A game for everyone - delivering a new format will help provide for a demographic that don't have as many opportunities and could also open up new funding avenues.
Engage with your local community - it will provide an opportunity to engage with a new group in your local community, bringing more people to your club.
Find new volunteers - walking cricket particpants could also turn into useful volunteers at the club.
Clubs interested in hosting Walking Cricket are encouraged to fill out our Expression of Interest Form.
