Devon women are back on the road this weekend taking on Scotland and Hertfordshire for the 3rd round of the NatWest Women’s T20 Blast with a very different squad from their first 4 games.

“Player availability is becoming very testing” said Head Coach Trevor Griffin “ We were always due to be without 2 players  for this round of fixtures but we now only have 6 from our 1st team squad available for selection.  We’re all very frustrated at playing at Division 3 standard and are desperate to secure promotion after last year’s near miss - however without so many of the main squad it will make it a challenge, particularly when facing the likes of Scotland who’ve just returned from a successful ICC qualifying tournament”

Steph Hutchins is selected following a good impression on her T20 Women’s debut in the last round  as is u15 player Rebecca Halliday; making their debuts are Evie Pitman, Sophie Florides and Daisy Meadowcroft.  Two real bonuses for the side are Hazelle Garton, who is based in Scotland and travels to play again this weekend as does Sussex resident Becca Silk.

“It’s going to be an interesting day, you don’t get to play against International players often and Scotland will be up for this game, like us they are unbeaten in the league” said captain Jodie Dibble.  “The players we’ve brought in have been performing well within their age groups so it will be good to see how they fair at the next level. We’re looking for them to perform well and make selection for the next round a challenge, healthy competition for places is something we haven’t had before”  continued Jodie.

Devon’s first game is against Scotland at 1pm and Hertforshire at 4:30pm.  You’ll be able to keep up to date with all the action with live scoring on TCS.
