Devon U13's v Wiltshire U13's Thursday 2nd June 2016 at Exmouth CC match report by James Tyson

Devon U13's open their season with a win against Wiltshire by 64 runs.

On a sunny morning in Exmouth Devon U13's won the toss and chose to bat.  This proved to be a good decision with Josh Farley and Isaac Staig opening the batting and putting on a good opening stand of 30.  With the score at 48/2 and Joe du'Gay and Josh Farley at the crease together the party started with them smashing 4's everywhere.  Josh scored 64 and Joe a rapid 67.  The final score fell just short of 200 finishing on a respectable 191.

After enjoying a delicious tea kindly provided by Exmouth CC the fielding innings started very strongly with Sonny Baker taking 2 wickets in his first 2 overs; with his first being caught behind the stumps by keeper Eddie Rudolph.  Charlie Ward bowled very tightly from the other end and was rewarded with a wicket, caught by Taylor Ingham-Hill.  Wiltshire’s number 4 batsman reached his half century before being bowled by Jack Ford and caught by James Tyson.  Dylan Hurst came back strongly after being hit for a few at the start of his spell.  Sam Jefferson created a good run out and then it was all about spin.  Jack Ford and Taylor Ingham-Hill taking 3 wickets each; bowling Wiltshire all out for 127.

Good team work resulting in a first match win.  Manager Scott Chappell said 'it was good start to the season and nice to get a win and good performance early on. Lets hope this continues on Sunday against Somerset who will no doubt be tough opposition!'
