WESTLEIGH’S 100 per cent record in Division One came to an abrupt end at Heathcoat, where they lost by 120 runs.

Heathcoat racked-up 258 for the loss of six, led by 69 from William Bucknell with help from Harrison Linnitt (41) and Richard Pugsley (38). James Starkey 3-41 was the pick of the Westleigh bowling.

Pugsley opened the bowling and wrecked Westleigh’s top order with figures of four for 13. James Morris (43) tried to lead a recovery, but was thwarted by Linnitt, who surpassed his colleague by taking four for two in 20 balls as Westleigh were all out for 138.

Bratton Fleming's revival ended with a home defeat by Hatherleigh.

Neil Ayre (24) and James Poole (52) put on 100 for Bratton’s first wicket before Adam Quick (3-13) accounted for both of them. With help from Greg Solkin (3-44) Bratton were all out for 164. 

Hatherleigh knocked off the runs for the loss of six wickets. Tom Carroll, with a not-out 40, led a team effort. Jimmer Thomas (3-26) did his best to delay the victory chase.

Normal service was resumed at Instow as North Devon, after two consecutive defeats, put Newton Tracey to the sword.

North Devon rattled along to 311 for the loss of five wickets. Jack Moore (76no) top scored with James Tyson not far behind with 75.

Oliver Gribble (58) and Harry Nicholl 52 had set-up the score with an opening stand of 103. Rob Gear (3-45) was Newton’s best bowler

Newton gave it a go. Colin Simpson (92) and Martin Gear (73no) both scored at a decent rate, but they ultimately fell 51 runs short, North Devon skipper Moore took the opportunity to blood some of his younger charges, Oscar Meech (2-39) being the pick 

Exford keeper-batter Sam Price won’t forget his knock against Filleigh, which pointed his team towards a 66-run win.

Price, who went in at eight for one, hit 164 off 102 balls. He put away 21 fours and sixes sixes and was the last man out in a total of 273.

Eight bowlers were used by Filleigh skipper Chris Cullen:  none could thwart Price’s onslaught..

Cullen (30) and Jas Kalsi (67) led the Filleigh reply, at least they did until Damien Smith (4-43) got to work. Filleigh were all out for 207.

Bideford (252-5) beat Lynton & Lynmouth (192-8) by 60 runs in the other Division Two fixture,

Victoria Park maintained their unbeaten record at the top of Division Three thanks to a five-wicket win away to Braunton Kelseymen.

Braunton, who won the toss and batted, were all out for 102. Andy Norman top scored with 51 and no one else made more than 12. Losing the last five wickets for 21 runs did not help.

Harry Rainford took four wickets for 13 runs for the Park and Mark Lee had two more.

Park knocked off the runs in a hurry as Ian Brown (47) and Mitch Power (29) tucked into the bowling. Teenage opening bowler James Hare took his first senior wicket in the second over he bowled.

League chairman Graham Moore (NDL) and Nick Rogers (DCL) met head on at Newton Tracey where Hatherleigh 2ndXI were the visitors.

Hatherleigh, who had Rogers down at six in the batting order, scored a massive total of 352 for four. Achilles Browne (116) Cameron Rowlands (109) and Jasper Presswell (64) showed no mercy towards the Newton bowlers.

Bill Sobey (39), Tom Fryer (35) and Chris Symons (39) gave Newton a start, which more built on with 50 before he had to retire.

Newton were all out for 219 with one ball remaining. Alan Jones (3-39) was Hatherleigh’s leading wicket taker.
