Devon CB U18 vs Wales CB U18 - 3rd June 2022

Vukusic and Bishop start innings with excellent partnership or 138

Devon U18’s took on Wales U18’s on the back of two impressive wins over Gloucestershire (10wkts) and Cornwall (8wkts).  Devon won the toss and elected to bat, a decision that proved a good one with an excellent opening partnership from a returning Emma Corney and Ellie Bishop of 138,  before Bishop departed for 52.  The score was 165 when Corney departed for 74 in the 28th over, this brought together Ruby Davis (36no) and Jemima Vereker (41no).   Their impressive partnership of 79 from 70 balls built on the solid platform laid for them, taking Devon’s score to 244 from 40 overs.

Ruby and Jemimam finish innings well, scoring 79 off 70 balls

In reply Wales looked steady enough until the 4th over when Katie Donovan bowled Thomas. The real damage however was done in Donovan’s 5th over when she took 3 wickets in 4 balls, the hat-trick only interrupted by a wide delivery, Donovan finishing with 4-14. Wales were in trouble now 37-4 and all of the Devon bowlers kept the pressure on bowling tight lines which proved difficult to get away.  They kept chipping away at the Welsh batters until Erin Vukusic returned to take the final wicket.

Donovan takes out the top order to leave Wales struggling and bowling figures (5 overs, 14 runs and 4 wickets)

Devon CB U18 - 244/3 40 overs - E Corney 74, E Bishop 52, Jemima Vereker 41

Wales CB U18 - 78ao - 27.1 overs - K Donovan 4-14, J Vereker 2-8, E Privett 1-1
