SOUTH African Jerome Bossr stroked 50 on the chase to see Plymouth to a three-wicket win at Hatherleigh.

Hatherleigh’s top order all missed out on runs with Joe Hagan-Burt (2-13), Plymouth’s captain for the day, taking early wickets.

Ryan Davies (29) and Gareth Tidball (23) got the home innings moving, but wickets for Adam Talbott (2-10) and Sam Stein had Hatherleigh labouring at 97 for five.

Niall Leahy batted through for an unbeaten 52 off 54 balls – five fours and a six off Jonny Varcoe – to get Hatherleigh up to 198 for eight.

Plymouth did not enjoy the best of starts as opener Harry Stephenson only faced five balls – and three of those were wides!

Ioan Phillips (32) and Jerome Bossr (50) got the Plymouth chase up and running with a stand worth 47, but a three-wicket burst from Hatherleigh slowed the city side to 77 for four.

Rob Bennett (31) and Bossr took the running total up to 137 for five then bits and pieces – Talbott, Hagan-Burt and Peter Lojszcyk all scored 13s – concluded the chase with time to spare.

Mark Lake, the Hatherleigh captain said: “We did well to get to 198 on a pitch that did more than I thought it would.

“Niall batted very well and played a mature innings to get us to our total.

“A couple of decisions could have gone our way when bowling, but that's cricket and we will move on to Bovey Tracey this week.”
