YOUNG STORM CHAMPIONS LAUNCHES THIS YEAR!

In conjunction with Western Storm and the South west Region, we are excited to announce the launch of Young Storm Champions. Our aim is to build the female volunteer workforce, to provide inspiring young role models for girls who come to cricket clubs.

The course is designed for 14 to 17 year old girls. It will cover building confidence in leading and coaching activities, looking at how to set up and run activities safely as well as how to facilitate the smooth running of softball games.

The participants will receive a Western Storm shirt on attendance to the course and will return to the club with a set of activity cards that they can use. After the course, the girls will have access to an online portal, where they can log the hours that they volunteer at the club. Western Storm are providing great incentives to build up those hours, as they will reward the girls when they reach hour milestones.

15 Volunteer Hours: you will receive a Western Storm Drinks Bottle

25 Volunteer Hours: you will receive a Western Storm Power Bank

35 Volunteer hours: you will receive a Western Storm Hoodie and a tweet from the Storm team!

There will be plenty of opportunities for girls to volunteer. At the club, they could help at All Stars or under 11 girls. At school, they could help run an after school club for younger year groups. At a county level, they could volunteer to help at any of the events running over the summer, such as the Under 11 girls festivals, summer camps or the Colour Me Cricket day!

Each course has a capacity of 20 girls and will be held on the following dates:

DEVON CLUB CHAMPION

This year, we see the return of the bespoke coaching course run by the county board and in conjunction with players from the Devon Womens Team. It is led by the county board and the course is an ideal start to a coaching pathway and is designed to build confidence for females to take on the lead role in female cricket, such as softball cricket or under 11 girls.

The participants will receive a booklet of activities that they can take back to their clubs and use for training. We hope that this will be the first step into coach development and ladies who take up coaching enjoy their role and would like to develop their skills further and enrol on an Foundation One Coaching Course.
