Vacany for a new League Secretary

The Tolchards Devon Cricket League is looking to appoint a new League Secretary during 2020.  This is a part-time paid post equating to approximately 18 hours per week.  This includes 2 hours per week administrative support for the Devon Women’s Cricket League.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a knowledge of and a passion for cricket to become involved in the game.  The secretary reports directly to the Chairman of the League and, through them, to the League Management Committee.

The role involves the administration and development of the League.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are well organised and able to prioritise their workload.  Good communication skills are essential together with good IT skills.  A knowledge of working with volunteers is important as most interactions are with volunteers at member cricket clubs.

The workload will see the candidate effectively organise a range of different meetings, keep minutes and prioritise action points that arise from outcomes.  Annually, the League produces a handbook, distributed through all member clubs.  The secretary is responsible for the successful management of this project, which sees the handbook published in early April each year.

The Tolchards Devon Cricket League is an accredited ECB Premier League which involves dialogue with the ECB Recreational Cricket Department and the reporting of annual targets.  The League works closely with its county partners including the Devon Cricket Board, Devon Women’s Cricket League and Devon Association of Cricket Officials.

The League Management Committee strongly believes that the vibrancy of member clubs is critical to the growth of the game in Devon.  The secretary, in partnership with the League Management Committee, will produce a set of annual objectives designed at supporting and promoting cricket within the county.
