Plymouth become County Softball Taverner Champions!

Entries for the Lady Taverners Competitions are now open!

Hardball Competition

With more and more clubs looking to attract girls to their junior sections, it is really important that the girls partake in meaningful playing opportunities with other girls, as well as within mixed teams.

Last year saw great success for the Under 13 girls at Exeter Cricket Club as they made it all the way to the National Finals at Neston in Cheshire, where they played 3 winning matches against Coton CC, Richmond CC and South Northumberland to be crowned the National Champions. The experience for the girls was invaluable, giving them opportunities to play cricket with different opponents across the country. We hope that they continue their winning streak as they now become part of the Under 15s team in the competition next season.

If your club would like to enter a team into the outdoor summer hardball festival in either the Under 13 or Under 15 group, then please contact Ann-Marie Presswell and an entry form will be sent to you. Please ensure you read the rules before entering. The closing date for entries is 14th February 2020.

Softball Competition

Last year clubs found it difficult to fit fixtures into their very busy schedule and so unfortunately no fixtures were played in the Under 13s group. In the Under 11s age group, Plymouth and Plympton played the only fixture in a local derby, where Plymouth were victorious and became Champions of the county.

In a bid to ensure that more girls are able to access the competition this year, fixtures for competition days have already been set below.

Under 11s: 5th July at Cornwood Cricket Club, 10am start

Under 13s: 16th August at Hatherleigh Cricket Club, 10 am start.

With this early dates booked into the fixture cards, more girls can make the most of a great day of cricket. A club can enter a team of their own, or they can work together with another club and field a combined team if they do not have a full team of their own. We just want the girls to play!

If you would like to enter a team as part of your club or with another club, then please contact Ann-Marie Presswell

It is a very exciting time for girls cricket and we are very much looking forward to see them all playing in these competitions next season.
