Queens Park - new home ground for Brixham's Tim Robinson

PAIGNTON have made their first acquisition of the close season by signing former Tim Robinson from Brixham.

Robinson, a batsman who bowls, has been a first-team player with Brixham for more than 15 seasons.

Targets! George BentonOnly overseas player Dhanan Lakshan (582) made more league runs for the team than Robinson (287) in the side relegated from the B Division last season.

Robinson may be the first close-season signing completed by Paignton’s ambitious captain George Benton, but he won’t be the last.

Benton isn’t saying who he has targeted, but has dropped some broad hints.

“There's a million rumours heading round at the minute and I would love to say yes to all,” said Benton, who declined to confirm or deny speculation that Torquay captain George Allen was high on the wanted list.

“We have only approached two players which will be revealed if they sign, but we are aiming for county standard players to improve the team to move forward.”

Tom Blundell, the former Brixham captain who switched to Queens Park last season, has been named as Paignton’s new 2nd XI captain.

The outgoing Paignton captain is Tim Ward, who has masterminded 2nd XI affairs since the 2009 season, when he replaced Mark Smith.
