Flashback - the team at Millfield after winning the regional final

WHAT a way to end the season!  Not only have Plympton Ladies run away with the First Division title, hitting nearly 1600 runs and taking 77 wickets in total this season, winning by a clear 32 points, but on Friday they travel to the Oval to take part in the Kia Super Smash T10 Finals, which will be attended by Heather Knight and Fran Wilson.

Their journey to the final was completed at the regional finals Day at Millfield School on July 20, where they convincingly played their way to the final, limiting their opponents scoring opportunities as well as taking regular wickets.

Newport won the toss and batted first in the regional final. Plympton limited them to 69 for 5 and in reply Becca Halliday scored 31 and with an unbeaten 20 from Imogen Beasley, Plympton bagged themselves a place in the final at The Oval - the first team to do so. All the teams through to the final are pictured below.

The schedule for the day looks amazing, with the girls arriving at 10:30am to have a tour around the ground. After that they have a net session with England's batswoman Fran Wilson. Lunch is next before play commences at 2pm and Plympton are first up against the South winners Hursley Park.

We wish all the girls very much luck with they day. They have certainly had a great season and shown that they are a tough and challenging side, who rise to the occasion. It is also great news for Ladies and girl's cricket in Devon to have such talented players that can spread their experience and knowledge to others, inspiring them to play the game.

Steph Hutchins, the team captain, said: "This is a fantastic honour and privilege for us as a team to play in such a special ground, in what, for some, will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"We have a fantastic team of enthusiastic women, all of whom are really excited about playing at the Oval."

It certainly is a great opportunity and even the 4am start in the team minibus is not putting them off. Have a great day Plympton Ladies. We will look forward to hearing how you do - the best of luck to you.
