GEORGIA Read (36) and Ellie Bishop (20) opened well for Devon rotating the strike, boundaries were not very forthcoming at Taunton School.

It wasn’t until just before the drinks break at 18 that Devon lost their first wicket off Holly McCloughlin’s bowling; and he was to take a further three Devon wickets.

Jemima Vereker batted well coming in at four for her 37 off 38 balls, but she was also dismissed by McCloughlin. Devon batted their 40 overs for 174-8.

Devon had a good start with the ball, Katie Donovan having a double-wicket maiden in the third over. However, Niamh Holland was to prove to be too difficult to dismiss and she went onto get an impressive 105 not out. Fielding was a little sluggish at times and Somerset reached their 176-3, with more than 11 overs to spare, winning by seven wickets.
