HARRY Senior smashed a maiden South Devon CC century in the 139-run win at Kenn that keeps the team top of the D Division West.

Senior was bumped up the order in the absence of holidaying skipper James Allen and put on 124 with opener Ali Wright (87) and 48 more with Anthony Bingley (46).

South Devon posted an imposing 299 for six in their 45 overs, the bowled out Kenn for 160.

Kenn lost opener Ben Chaloner second ball to Anthony Bingley and were four for two soon after when Aaron Hammett removed Anthony Gosling.

James Gosling (20) and Ed Bragg (36) rebuilt and acting captain Richard Beaumont was glad to see the back of Gosling then Bragg in a running total of 80 for four.

Kenn’s lower order made South Devon work for their wickets, in particular Peter Chislett with a cheeky 29 at number nine.

Rob Stephens (2-36) and Joe Kitto (4-56) stuck at it to dismiss Kenn for 160 with more than 12 overs unused.

Victory keeps South Devon top by three points from Paignton and 11 clear of Hatherleigh (3rd) in a division with three promotion places.

PROMOTION-chasers Paignton II carried way too much firepower for lowly Plymouth CS&R,

Mark Smith, Archie Farkins and Rory Medlock all made half-centuries in Paignton’s hefty total of 316 for five.

Take out Jack Dent’s 40 and Nick Read’s 33 and there was little from the rest as Civil were bowled out for 157 and lost by 159 runs.

Medlock bagged three for eight at the end and there were two each for Tom Blundell, Sam South and Ali Selby

CHELSTON & Kingskerswell dropped out of the top three for the first time this season when they lost by six wickets to Lewdown.

Lucas Grierson made 26 but next best for C&K was Chris Harrison’s 16 as they were bowled out for 137 in the 36thover.  The Williams brothers had three wickets each, as did Tom Pengelly.

Lewdown only needed 26 overs to knock off the runs despite the endeavors of Vivek Kulkarni (3-26).

Lewdown captain Dave Ball batted through for an unbeaten 86.

HATHERLEIGH 2ndXI dispatched Whitchurch 2ndXI by 136 runs in the D West derby clash at Holsworthy Road.

Dan Forrester (84) and Eddie Jones (32) were the main run getters in Hatherleigh’s total of 228 for eight.

Jabez Weale (26) and Tom Strawbridge (26) put on 55 in a hurry at the end.

Whitchurch opener Ben Powell soon found himself fighting a rearguard action as batters came and went at the other end to Weale (2-20), Strawbridge (2-23) and Charlie Presswell (5-19).

Powell was eighth out on 80. The tail added 12 more runs between them.
