PAIGNTON 2nd XI meet Dartington & Totnes at South Devon CC tomorrow (Friday) night in the final of the Aaron Printers Cup.

Paignton were first to reach the final after putting out Chelston & Kingskerswell by seven wickets.

Dartington & Totnes chased to win against Stoke Gabriel, Phil Snyman lashing 86 not out in a six-wicket win.

D&T's talented all-rounder Phil SnymanPaignton chairman Tim Ward, who usually captains the 2nd XI, has delegated responsibility for leading the side to eldest son Harry.

Ward is keen to push youngsters into the adult game and getting Harry to lead the side is part of his plan.

“I am very proud as a club that we can get a side out where the oldest player is 21,” said Ward.

Dartington & Totnes are running away with the C Division West in the Tolchards Devon League, but Ward said cup cricket is not the same.

“Most finals are close run things and I expected Friday won't be any different,” said Ward.

Such has been D&T’s domination in league games this season, some players have only had bit-parts to play. Harry Baxendale, the captain, admits that could be an issue in the final

“The final should be a fun and tough game against a good Paignton side,” said Baxendale.

“Hopefully we can get some more players involved and see if they can step up?”
