A captain’s knock by opener Harry Ward guided Paignton 2ndXI to a seven-wicket win over Chelston & Kingskerswell and into the final of the Aaron Printers T20 Cup.

Monday night’s semi-final at Abbotskerswell, rearranged from the previous Thursday due to bad weather, may have been low scoring but was certainly competitive.

Chelston & Kingskerswell, who won the toss and batted, made 119 for seven in their 20 overs.

Paignton got over the line with exactly two overs to go with Ward unbeaten on 69.

Paignton will find out tonight (Wednesday 6.15pm) whom they will face in next Friday night’s final at South Devon as they are hosting the second semi between Dartington & Totnes and Stoke Gabriel.

Chelston & Kingskerswell 119-7 (C Harrison 25, S Bobb, 24, E Gregersen 40; C Ward 2-21), Paignton 120-3 (H Ward 69, N Wright 23, J Ashworth 19no; S Bobb 2-33).
