Cornwood keep on winning!

Hatherleigh travelled to Cornwood on Sunday and were lucky enough to leave the rain behind them!

Hatherleigh won the toss and elected to field. Cornwood made a solid start, but their batting was disrupted by the excellent bowling of the U15 Lucy Quick (3-19). Hatherleigh's impressive bowling and fielding performance kept the runs down and despite a fight back from K Luscombe (36) and H Bale (14), Cornwood were bowled out in the 34th overfor 113. Wickets were shared bewteen the Hatherleigh bowlers - Holly Presswell (2-14) and India Spears, returning to bowling after injury, (2-9).

Feeling postive, Hatherleigh went out to bat and openers India Spears and Sue Tidball made a good start against some tight bowling. Kirsty Hambley came in at 3 and kept things ticking over. However, a bowling change to spin was to prove Hatherleigh's downfall and supported by some excellent fielding, 6 catches by 6 different team members, Hambley was left stranded on 14 not out as she ran out of partners. Hatherleigh finished on a disappointing 39.

Like Hatherleigh, Cornwood's bowling and fielding were very strong, O Gibson (2-9), E Gibson (2-18) and S Maskelyne (5-3) and a highlight of the game.

Cornwood now turn their attention to their game vs Bridgwater in the National T20 Knockout Competition this Sunday, whilst Hatherleigh have a couple of weeks to return to their batting performance earlier in the season when they meet North Devon on 23rd June.
