DEVON have stepped up the search for a new director of finance to replace long-serving Chris Theedom.

Theedom stood down during the winter after 11 years looking after the county club’s finances.

Chief executive Nigel Mountford has been caretaker treasurer since Theedom’s departure, but now the season is in full swing has his hands full with his own job.

The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, or corporate finance, and an interest in cricket.

The post is a voluntary one but full out-of-pocket expenses are met, including allowances for travelling to away games.

The job outline includes:

  • Taking responsibility for the overall finances of the Devon CCC
  • Preparing annual income and expenditure projections at the start of the year
  • Attending all general committee meetings, up to six times a year
  • Presenting reports on the state of the club’s finances at general committee meetings
  • Liaising with the chief executive and the chairman over income and expenditure throughout the summer season
  • Managing the club’s bank accounts
  • Liaising with the treasurer of the Minor Counties’ Cricket Association, from which grants are received at various times in the year and submitting claims for VAT repayments to the MCCA treasurer
  • Preparing sets of annual accounts – income and expenditure – Devon Lions’ accounts, and the balance sheet
  • Submitting annual accounts to the auditor well in advance of the annual meeting

The director of finance is welcome to attend Devon CCC matches and occasions as and when available.

Expressions of interest should be emailed to Devon CCC chairman Neil Gamble. Alternatively, give Gamble a call on Sidmouth (01395) 514369.
