BRAUNTON captain Dan Brierley is confident of having a stronger squad this season for the challenges in the C Division East.

Jack WhittakerJack Whittaker, a left-arm spinner who has been through the Devon age-groups, is expected to have a break-through season in adult cricket.

“He is looking like a real cricketer and we can't wait to have him playing first team this year,” said Brierley.

Brierley expects to see more of Mike Brown and Joe Barnes in he season ahead  - and has had confirmation from former Devon seamer Jon Baglow that he has another summer in his bowling shoulder!

And there are a couple of ‘mystery players’ who have put in an appearance at indoor practice.

“We have a few new lads training with us who will fit into our first team,” is all Brierley is saying at this stage.

Indoor practice is every Tuesday between 8-9pm at Braunton Academy.

Braunton have pre-season games in April lined-up against Barnstaple, Bideford, Filleigh and Ilfracombe.
