Experience the power of sport in 2019

Have you ever stared out of your window at this time of the year, your ‘new year, new you’ resolutions hanging by a thread, the dark winter evenings seemingly endless, dry January...and thought to yourself; ‘I need an adventure’ or, ‘wouldn’t it be great to make a difference?’ Well, this could be just the thing to banish those winter blues.

A unique charity is looking for volunteers to help it increase its’ impact of delivering social and health messages through sport, which covers HIV/AIDS awareness, promoting gender equality, refugee integration and community cohesion.

Proposed Autumn dates:

  - Kenya - 21st Sep/5th Oct 2019

  - Rwanda - 28th Sep/12th Oct 2019

   - Uganda - 19thOct/2ndNov 2019

Last year, over 65,000 children – half of whom were girls – across Africa, Middle East and Europe were coached by our Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) volunteers. This could be you. And guess what? You don’t need to be a sports coach or know much about cricket! All you need is a positive attitude and a willingness to want to do some good in the world.

Lee Booth, Head of Delivery at CWB, said:

“This is a really exciting time to get involved with Cricket Without Boundaries. We have achieved a huge amount in the last 14 years and with your help, we can achieve more. The work of CWB works with communities to bring benefit for all involved, and our volunteers get so much out of the experience. So, whether you’re an individual, a club or part of a university, we’d love to hear from you.”

Joseph Karamera, CWB Ambassador Rwanda, said:

“We help the community to help other people… we teach that anyone can play with anyone.”

The African projects last up to two weeks and each trip is made up of a team of 6-8 volunteers, with a mix of coaches and non-coaches to ensure a good spread of skills. Full training is provided and support and the projects run in the Spring and Autumn so there are plenty of opportunities for you to get involved.
