SANDFORD have signed-up South African all-rounder Ferisco Adams as their overseas professional for the 2019 season.

Adams, who will be 30 by the time the season ends, is currently playing for franchise side Cape Cobras in white-ball cricket.

His 50 and 20-over stats are pretty impressive. He averages 26 with the bat in 50-over cricket and has 51 wickets at 26.01 each. Adams’ T20 record is 45 wickets at 23.84 and 352 runs at 18.52.

Ferisco Adams - Sandford's overseas player for 2019In 50 first class games for Boland Adams has rattled off four centuries and five 50s – average 29.91- and taken 99 wickets at a shade over 24 runs each.

No wonder Sandford captain Richard Foan is delighted to have the fast-bowling all-rounder on board.

“Ferisco seems a very good player with good experience,” said Foan.

“We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to seeing what he can do in the summer.

“Other signings are in the pipeline in the New Year.”

Adams replaces Pakistani batsman Faisal Iqbal, who was Sandford’s overseas player in 2018. He had a decent season, averaging 63.17 with the bat and taking 13 wickets with his off-spin.

Adams is not a complete stranger to English conditions having spent the 2015 summer appearing for Cherry Tree CC in the Ribblesdale Cricket League. In 22 games for the Blackburn side he scored 706 runs and claimed 43 wickets.

On Cherry Tree’s roster last season was Steffan Klopper, the South African all-rounder who pulled out of a deal to play for Brixham under orders from his handlers at Northerns.

Klopper prospered with Cherry Tree, scoring a whopping 902 runs and taking 63 wickets.
