Devon v Dorset

After a long travel the Devon girls arrived ready for captain Daisy Meadowcroft to complete the toss. Having lost the toss Devon walked out to field with Sophie Florides opening the bowling and Katie Harman at the other end. The first wicket of Lucy Prest fell to a clean bowl from Florides as Dorset sat on 7-1. A run out from Rebeca Halliday and a wicket from Ellen Day left Dorset on 18-4. Florides and Katie Donovan soon took two wickets each before Olivia Churcher took the last of the innings in the final over leaving Dorset on a total of 55-8.

The low total for Devon to chase meant opening bats Rose Ball and Daisy Meadowcroft, with help from Olivia Churcher completed the game in the eighth over.

Devon won by 8 wickets.

Devon v Wiltshire

A fast first game meant a quick turnaround for the Devon as Wiltshire took to bowling the first innings. Emma Corney and Cassia Astley-Jones opened the batting with Emma Corney hitting a fabulous 92 of just 60 balls. Astley-Jones falling short of 50, again hitting 46. The two partnered a total of 156 before Astley-Jones was bowled and replaced at the crease by Rose Ball (6). Emma Corney who was then caught by Emerson-Hicks meant Sophie Florides (13) followed. Daisy Meadowcroft was not out for 23 as a few wickets fell for nought before the innings came to an end of 204-7.

With confidence Devon walked out to bowl as two early wickets fell positioning Wiltshire on 1-2. Katie Donovan claimed the first wicket and Ellen Day the second with an outstanding run out. Ellen Day later took two more, one LBW and one clean bowl. Sophie Florides joined the party taking the final wicket to leave Wiltshire on 62-5 falling short of Devon’s set target.

Devon won by 142 runs!

The two games were a wonderful end to what was an incredible and trying season with the girls, as we showcased just what we could do. We look forward to the next season ahead of us!
