NORTH Devon paceman Jack Popham has been added to Devon’s squad for the upcoming Unicorns Championship game against defending champions Berkshire.

Jack PophamPopham has had a wretched run of injury problems over the last 14 months and hasn’t featured in a county squad since early June.

A couple of outings in the North Devon 1stXI suggest Popham is fit to return and he is brought in as an additional seamer.

The team management will have to decide on Sunday at Newbury whether they want three spinners – Codd, Hancock and Stephens – or Popham for one of them.

Ten of the 11 who lost to Herefordshire at Plymouth last week are retained, which means no recall for Popham’s North Devon team-mate Josh King, who was in the 12 but failed to make the starting side.

The change is behind the stumps where vice-captain Matt Thompson has work commitments that prevent him playing.

Torquay and Devon Lions captain George Allen, whose for both has been impressive this summer, is in for his Devon debut.
