On, Off, On, Off, On!!

Such a frustrating and in the end a disappointing match for the Devon girls.

Daisy Meadowcroft (59) and Olivia Churcher (56) both batted in difficult conditions, not only having come of because of the rain once, it was to happen again and again in Devon’s innings. In the middle of the 29th over the girls were brought off again. After a lengthy wait, tea was taken. Devon’s innings off 28.4 overs had been 148.

Despite the D/L projection on PlayCricket of 124 off 19 overs, the umpires decided on a chase of 108 off 19 overs regardless of any falling of wickets and Cornwall went into bat.

Just after the first over, the batters were off again. Wickets fell at the hands of Devon’s bowlers; the ball and the pitch were slippery and it was to come down to the last over when Cornwall required two to win based on the umpires chase of 108. A boundary was found and a difficult match was thankfully ended!
