Alex Barrow - Rob Holman's runner during a knock of 154

EXETER’S Rob Holman scored his second successive unbeaten century in the 66-run win over bottom side Sandford.

Holman, who took 154 not out off Bovey Tracey last Saturday, was at it again with 151 not out in Exeter’s total of 295 for three.

Alex Barrow went in the first over for a duck and Harvey Sargent had been in and out by the time the score reached 12.

Holman and Tom Richardson (75) took the bowling for 194 for the third wicket.

Jamie Khan (35no) was in at the end with Holman having kept an end ticking over in a final stand of 88.

What made Holman’s knock all the more remarkable was he went lame before reaching 20 and had Barrow acting as his runner for the rest of the innings.

Jamie Palmer – one wicket for 16 runs in eight overs – was Sandford’s cheapest bowler.

Sandford were all out for 229 in reply with two overs to go – three run outs not assisting their cause. The key one was top scorer Faisal Iqbal (52).

Chris Jelly made 37 and there were chip-ins down the order from Chris Simpson (22) and Pete Steer (23).

Keeping up with an asking rate of more than six an over from halfway onwards with five wickets down proved too tall an order for Sandford in the end.

Jelly, who skippered the side in the absence of Richard Foan, said: “Our batting was always up with the asking rate but we lost wickets at key times.”
