DEVON take on Wiltshire at Sidmouth on Sunday (11am) in the slimmed down Unicorns KO Cup.

The 50-over competition - a feature of the Minor Counties fixture list since 1983 – has been played in qualifying pools since 2005. The top two from four groups used to go through to knockout last eight.

Competition organisers have reverted to a straight knockout format for 2018, which frees up at least three Sundays for the new Uncorns T20 Cup.

Devon know if they beat Wiltshire on Sunday they will be at home to either Cornwall or Berkshire in the third round on June 10.

Devon have named a 12-man squad for the game and included Plymouth all-rounder Joe Hagan-Burt for the first time.

Devon have a shortfall in the bowling department as Tom Lammonby (exams) and the injured quintet of James Burke, Jamie Stephens, Jack Popham, Josh King and Jack Gibbs are all unfit.

Popham and King both bowled for club side North Devon against Exmouth last Saturday, but are not operating at 100 per cent effectiveness yet.

Lammonby, who made a century for Somerset 2nd XI against the Unicorns in a Second Eleven Trophy game at Newbury on Monday, is on A-level countdown at Exeter School.

Hagan-Burt, whose game has improved during a winter spent at the Darren Lehmann Academy in Australia, is a seam-bowling option for captain Josh Bess.
