BRIXHAM have given up on South African overseas players for the season ahead after yet another let-down.

Dirk Brewer – an opening batsman and off-spin bowler – was signed up last month as Brixham’s overseas player.

Bruwer was a replacement for Stefan Klopper, a former South African U19 player from Northerns who was refused permission by Notherrns to travel.

Now Northerns have put the block on Bruwer too, leaving Brixham with a potential headache.

Rehman Muzammil, a batter who bowls off-spin, was registered earlier this week and arrives from Pakistan with some impressive stats in professional cricket.

Muzammill averages nearly 34 in First Class cricket and a fraction over 40 in List A matches. His career has included games for KRL, Multan Tigers and Pakistan A.

He has plenty of experience in UK league cricket having played for Sanderstead in the Surrey Championship since 2009. He has compiled 5,700 runs and taken 125 wickets in 147 games for the club.

Brixham have also signed Connor Ashworth.
