Exmouth skipper Richard Baggs, who has persuaded Miles Lenygon to return to the Maer in 2018

RUN getter Miles Lenygon is on his way back to Exmouth next season as the Maer Ground side continues mid-winter team building for an assault on the Premier title next summer.

Miles Lenygon - moving onLenygon left Exmouth for Exeter in 2011 and has been there ever since, serving as 1st XI captain for the past four seasons.

He stood down as skipper at the end of the 2017 season and since then rumours have been rife that he would be leaving the club.

Exmouth were always favourites to sign Lenygon, whose move has now been confirmed by captain Richard Baggs.

“Miles still has one or two loose ends to tie up with Exeter, but he will be signing for us,” said Baggs.

“As an Exmouth lad and one of our own, I am delighted to welcome him back to the club.

“Miles has turned himself into a very competent batsman and gained loads of experience as captain of a Premier side.

“With Miles on board and Andy Buzza back with us from Bradninch, our top six looks solid next season.

“With the other signings we have already made, such as Ben Twine (Sussex Academy) and a lad we hope to sign who has played for Suffolk, the team is shaping up nicely.

“I know it is only mid-November and things can still change, but the club is buzzing with excitement for the season ahead..”

Lenygon has been a consistent run getter for Exeter, regularly clocking around 400 league runs a season. He has 20 Premier Division half centuries to his name and one ton, taken off Brixham in 2016.
