Picturesque - Netherton Park where Stokeinteignhead play

STOKEINTEIGNEAD are hosting the inaugural Netherton Park Cup T20 competition this Saturday.

The tournament, being sponsored by Isca Brewery, was devised to solve the problem of finding grounds for touring sides to play on at this time of year.

Somerset tourists Bitton and Roadwater were struggling to find Saturday opposition, so the T20 solution was suggested.

“With so many clubs having to give their grounds back for winter sports use, both clubs were struggling to find games,” said Stoke secretary Ian Lang.

“Thanks to Erratics from Exeter kindly moving their fixture with us to Sunday, the T20 concept was arranged.”

Games start at 10.30 with a match between Stokeinteignhead and Bitton. Each side will play twice.

The day will finish with a barbecue in the evening for players and supporters.

“Hopefully, the weather will be suitable and if deemed a success more days of a similar nature can be arranged in the future at this picturesque cricketing venue in South Devon,” said Lang.
