WELL BATTED: Congratulations to Halberton & Sampford Peverell’s Craig Chilcott on his maiden century for the club.

Chilcott, who started out in the youth teams at the club, was playing for the 2nd XI against visiting Uplyme & Lyme Regis.

Chilcott, who also keeps wicket, scored 105 not out having gone in with his side in trouble at 15 for three.

Chilcott put on 126 with Trevor Buxton – he hit 56 – and 60 with Andy Durrant (27) in a total of 226 for six.

Uplyme were all out for 80 in reply – and 30 of them were extras.

Chilcott capped a memorable day by claiming three victims behind the stumps.

Buxton didn’t do too badly either – he bagged three wickets for 19 runs – but man of the moment with the ball with four for 16 was Fred Harding.
