The second round of the U15 T20 matches took place at Abbotskerswell Cricket Club on 25th July against Gloucestershire and Somerset. There was some fine bowling from Katie Donovan who took 4 wickets for 22 off 7 overs, along with a catch, and Hollie Perkin who took 3 wickets for 9 runs off 5 overs.

Devon v Gloucestershire

Devon won the toss against Gloucestershire and elected to bowl with the first wicket to fall with a catch from Becca Halliday in Maddie Holifield's first over Katie Donovan was to claim the second wicket. With Gloucestershire on 22-2 in the forth over, Devon looked very hopeful. Although wickets did continue to fall, Gloucestershire's Zoe Dibble (18*) proved difficult to dislodge. Gloucestershire ended their innings on 80-6.

Chasing what appeared to be an achievable low score, Devon found it hard to make meaningful partnerships. Only Becca Halliday and Cassia Astley-Jones were to put on a partnership of just 24, and most of Devon struggled to value their wickets and reach double figures.

Devon v Somerset

Somerset won the toss and elected to bat. Katie Donovan secured the first wicket, from a good catch from Becca Halliday in the second over. Somerset were able to rebuild their innings and partnerships were made. U13 Evie Privett playing up for the first time and Olivia Churcher dried up the runs from Somerset in the middle of their innings, though Somerset completed their overs for 92-7.

Unfortunately Devon lost their top four for just 8 runs and though Ellen Day and Holly Elsworth managed to each reach double figures, it wasn't enough and Devon completed their overs for 84-9.

Devon were bowled out for 71!
