The Devon U17 girls were to play Gloucestershire home and away in the same week, and though were unsuccessful on both occasions to win, they played so well and there were some fine performances in the field and with the bat.

Devon bowled out Gloucestershire for 179, with notable performances from Maddie Holifield (7.2-0-31-3) and Emily Martin (5-0-15-3) with the ball and two great catches from Morgan Harrison-Hooton.

Openers Immy Beasley (51) and Daisy Meadowcroft (41) batted very well with their partnership of 90, but wickets were to fall, especially at the hands of Emily Kibble (26-4). Devon requiring 18 runs from the last three overs, it looked at one point a real possibility, however Dannielle Gibson put paid to that and bowled a maiden in the last over and Gloucestershire won by 6 runs.

Having lost an early wicket, Daisy Meadowcroft (57* in 105 balls) rebuilt partnerships with Immy Beasley (18) and Ellie Ingham-Hill (36). Apart from Rose Ball putting on 36 in just 24 balls, the run rate was to prove rather slow. Devon batted their innings for 180-6.

Gloucestershire lost their first wicket in the first over and their second when they were on 35. Natasha Wraith (80) eventually caught by Daisy Meadowcroft off Morgan Harrison-Hooton's bowling (44-2) was to prove to be the most damaging as she scored quickly in 79 balls. Gloucestershire 182-7 with 10 overs to spare.
