SAM Read claimed four wickets for 17 runs as Devon Under-15s defeated Hampshire by 77 runs at Torquay.

Runs were not easy to come by for Devon, who chose to go in first on a damp wicket.

Skipper jack Moore led by example, grafting out a decent 54 with quick running, which was one of the highlights of his innings.

Morison chipped in with 22 as the hosts reached 148 from their reduced 40 overs.

Hampshire were kept on the back foot from ball one.

Spinner Read (took the main bowling honours and Max Hancock (2-17) and Abraham Kopparambil (2-10) also chipped in as the visitors were bowled out for 71 in the 32nd over.
