Match One: Devon v Cornwall

Playing at Grampound Road in Cornwall, Devon lost the toss and were put into bat by Cornwall in our first T20 match of the season.

We had an excellent start from Becca Halliday (24) and Holly Elsworth (7), who scored quickly with great running. Unfortunately a miss hit  from Holly was caught a point in the fifth over. Playing up, Emma Corney (16) steadied the innings coming in at four. Struggling to make runs and hold onto batters, Devon were bowled out in the 20th over for 90.

Cornwall's Ellie Mitchell's (27) put on quick runs and was supported well by Rebecca Odgers (14). Some rather inconsistent bowling at times from Devon helped Cornwall. Though Cornwall had a tense ending to their innings, requiring just 11 runs in the 16th to wins; it took Cornwall 4 overs of tight bowling from Ellen Day, Katie Donovan and Emma Corney to achieve their first win in the 19th over.

Match Two: Devon v Dorset

Dorset struggled to make runs against a very good bowling and fielding attack from Devon in our second T20 match. Among the wickets taken were, Ciara O'Keefe (8-2) achieved two catches from Sophie Gillies and Ellen Day off her bowling and also had a runout. There were runouts from Maddie Holifield and Cassia Astley-Jones who also had a stumping off Sophie Gillies' bowling.

Dorset were all out for just 57 runs.

Devon's openers Becca Halliday (20*) and Holly Elsworth (24*) only required 5 overs to make very quick runs for Devon's first win of the NatWest T20 Competition.
