Devon U13 girls

RUBY Davies turned in a gem of a bowling performance to help Devon U13 girls to a 76-run win over Gloucestershire.

Devon, who were put in at Hanham CC, were all out for 76 with eight overs to go.

Devon started off well with skipper Emma Corney opening and steadily picking up the runs before being dismissed in the 13th over for 25.

After that the Devon girls struggled to stay in long enough to bat out the overs and collapsed towards the end.

Fortified and composed after the tea interval, Devon’s bowlers got stuck in.

Davis bagged four wickets in her five overs. Katie Donovan and Lucy Quick had two each.

The end was nigh for Gloucestershire when  Alicia Stebbing took the ninth wicket in the 20th over.

Devon wanted to finish Gloucestershire off as quickly as possible. Skipper Corney brought back Donovan  - and one ball later a run-out had the hosts all out for 60.

“An amazing win for a very determined team of girls who fully deserved it,” said team manager Nat Hunt.
