Zak Bess - close to being fit again after side strain<br>credit: www.ppauk.com

DEVON will want to get back to winning ways in the Unicorns Trophy a week today when they face Oxfordshire at Sidmouth.

Having comprehensively defeated Dorset at Instow in the opening game of the season, Devon slipped up away to Berkshire last time out.

Berkshire recovered from 37 for four to make 234 for nine in their 50 overs.

Devon were all out for 190 with overs to spare – Ben Green (44) and Josh Bess (43) the leading run getters.

Devon are one of four teams with a win each in Group One of the qualifying pool with Oxfordshire and Cornwall to play.

Another defeat would make it hard for them to finish in the top two.

Devon’s management team will review first day performances in the league before picking the squad to face Oxfordshire.

Definitely out are keeper-batsman Matt Thompson (work) and Jack Dart (university exams).

Batters Rob Woodman and Alex Barrow, who missed the Berkshire defeat, come back into contention.

All-rounder Zak Bess may be fit to bowl if his side strain has cleared up.
