Players and spectators enjoying the cricket at Topsham

TOPSHAM St James will be holding their registration rvening at Bonfire Field, Exeter Road on Monday (April 24) between 5.30 and 8pm.

This is an ideal opportunity for both current and potential new members - adults and colts - to meet the captains, coaches and managers. 

Nick Horne batting for TopshamThereafter the Ladies will be training on Wednesdays, the Men on Thursdays and the colts - both boys and girls - on Fridays.

Topsham St James caters for players of all ages and abilities, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to play cricket at various levels. 

In addition to Men’s and Women’s 1st XIs, there is a Men’s 2nd XI, a midweek T20 side which plays in the Exeter Evening League, a Sunday XI playing friendlies, and boys’ and girls’ teams covering all ages. 

During the winter indoor nets were held at Exeter School. Tomorrow the first match will take place at Hatherleigh with a further one at Kilmington on Sunday, April (30).

Wilkinson Grant remain as the main sponsors. They are keen to help develop young cricketers and their support is important in enabling first-class coaching to be delivered at the Friday night junior training sessions. 

These evenings have also become a popular social occasion for many of the parents, friends and family, who enjoy relaxing, with the bar open and the barbecue lit, at the end the working week.

Sidney Pratt Builders’ sponsorship is targeted at developing the skills of the adult players and this has enabled a coach to be employed for their training sessions.
