TRANSFER activity in the Tolchards Devon League is hotting-up as the new season gets nearer.

Much-travelled batsman James Fulner is on the move again, this time from Chagford to Abbotskerswell.

Fulner has had a previous stint with Abbots as well as spells with Shaldon, Torquay and Bovey Tracey.James Thomas, who is on the way to North Devon from Barnstaple & Pilton

James Thomas, a bowler-batsman, has left Barnstaple & Pilton for nearby North Devon, where he has family ties.

Paul Smethurst, a well-known player on the lower-division in Torbay, has switched from Chelston & Kingskerswell to Babbacombe.

Keeper-batsman Josh Cann has left Bradninch to team up with dad Brian at B Division new boys Seaton.

Charlie Barriball has followed brother Billy over the hill from Whitchurch to Tavistock.

Paul Harding, the veteran former Devon, Plymouth and Torquay spin bowler, has left Chelston & Kingskerswell in unusual circumstances for Paignton.

Chelston & KK play their second team games in Torquay. Paignton play their 3rd XI fixtures at Kingskerswell, which suits Harding better as he lives in the village.

New Stoke Gabriel captain Mike Meech will have Daniel Pandolfo as his overseas player this term. He is a keeper batter-batsman from Ellinbank CC in the Warrugal district.

Jayson Bartolo, a Zimbabwe-born South African with a Portuguese passport living in Australia, is on board with Bideford this summer.

“Jayson is an 18-year-old batsman who also bowls seam and comes from Glenelg CC in Adelaide,” said Bideford skipper Paul Heard.

“Glenelg is the same club Josh Roach plays for, who was our overseas player in 2014 and 2015.

“Josh has a high opinion of Jayson's fielding and says he is building into a solid B grade bat.

“He tells me he is keen to get stuck in at the club and help with coaching the colts and seniors.”

All-rounder Grant Stone will be playing for Chudleigh in the A Division this season.

A former student at Rhodes University he has played for Eastern Cape Districts and KZN juniors at school. Stone bats left-handed and bowls left-arm orthodox spin.
