ABBOTSKERSEWELL old boys dominated day one of the Warragul DCA grand final game between Hallora and Western Park.

Batting first in the 80-over innings Hallora hit 178 then bowled Westen Park out for 128 with all 10 wickets being taken by ex Abbots players. 

Toby CoddToby Codd, now with Bovey Tracey spun his way to a four-wicket haul and there were three wickets each for Mark Phillips and Ryan Williams, former overseas players at Two Mile Oak.

The Abbots’ alumni bowled 56.2 overs - 22 of them maidens – and conceded 92 runs.”

Hallora have a tradition of sending players over to Abbots for a season, but not in 2017.

Paul Mitchell, the Abbotskerswell chairman said: “For many years we have had a fantastic link with Hallora CC in Victoria, Australia with players swapping respective winters.

“With nobody from Hallora due over for the forthcoming season, Tom Keily from rivals Longwarry is making the journey instead.”

Keily, a top order seam-bowling all-rounder will join returning UK Passport holder Riccardo Small-Boyce at Abbots for the 2017 season.
