PLYMOUTH retained their Ivor Dewdney’s T20 Cup when they defeated Cornwood by eight wickets in the final at Plympton.

Cornwood got off to a slow start against  tight bowling from Plymouth’s Dan Goodey (2-8).

Mark Roca and Steve Lambert both made 16 as they tried to get their side going but wickets kept falling.  Jason Hall tried to play an anchoring role for his side, batting well for 32 from 38 balls.

Hall could not prevent the steady fall of wickets at the other end with the wickets all being shared around amongst the Plymouth bowlers.  Spinners Fahad Ali (2-16) and Jack Hale (2-26) before seamers Rob Bennett (2-15) and Hal Kerton (2 for 16) finished off Cornwood who were all out for 112 in the last of their 20 overs.

Anthony Atkinson (20) and Hamish Gardiner got Plymouth off to a good start in the chase.

Although the Cornwood spinners slowed the scoring rate, Plymouth were able to reach their target with three overs to spare.

Gardiner completed an excellent 50 off 46 balls and in partnership with Hal Kerton (30 not out) saw Plymouth over the line.

Plympton were victorious against Plymstock in the morning Plate final.

Both sides were some way below full strength and gave opportunities to several youngsters to gain valuable experience.

Plympton made 143 for 6 from their 20 overs with Hakeem Abdullah making a quickfire 50 from just 27 balls with some spectacular hitting.

Abdullah was well supported by youngster James Degg ,who made 20 not out and Andy Walter (19).

Plymstock started well and with skipper Scott Mansfield and first team all-rounder Seb Jordan at the crease looked well set at one stage.

Plymstock lost wickets against first change bowler Abdullah (3-23) and the left-arm spin of youngster Jacob Caunter (3-19).

Bronte Bess (22 off nine balls) briefly threatened but once he was dismissed to fine catch in the deep, Plympton were able to secure victory by 24 runs.
