Premier champs Heathcoat looking for new groundsman
PREMIER Division champions Heathcoat are looking for a new groundsman to look after their Knightshayes playing surface.
Candidates have to be able to work to a high standard in a largely unsupervised environment and will need to be highly motivated.
Rod Randerson, the Heathcoat chairman, said: “It is a great opportunity to work at one of the most picturesque grounds in Devon, set in the grounds of Knightshayes Court.”
The job description is:
Main Duties:
- Develop, in conjunction with the committee, a programme for the maintenance and improvement of the playing surfaces (cricket square and outfield)
- Prepare the square to the best possible quality (as requested by the captains) working within the budget constraints of the club
- Ensure a back-up person is trained and available to carry out the work in the event of injury or other circumstances
- Prepare and submit a financial budget to the committee for approval
- Ensure all equipment is suitable for use, is regularly maintained and used appropriately to ensure the equipment maintenance is kept to a minimum
- Provide clear tasks for volunteers and seek assistance when needed
- Provide the committee with a monthly progress report on maintenance and development of the ground (in time for the second Monday of each month)
- Liaise with the fixture secretary to ensure wickets are prepared in readiness for all types of cricket games
- Notify captains and fixture secretary when the ground is not suitable for cricket
Notes:
- Volunteers will keep the outfield, boundary fence and areas around the pavilion in good order throughout the cricket season
- Monthly expense allowance of £50 for mower fuel and sundries. Receipts must be presented. All other expenditure to be approved by the committee
