Paignton breeze past Lustleigh to reach Brockman final

PAIGNTON will play Stokeinteignhead in the final of this season’s Brockman Cup.

The Queens Park outfit were on form in the semi-final, defeating Lustleigh by 44 runs.

Noah Wright opened up with 33 for Paignton, who amassed 139 for seven in their 20 overs.

No one made more than Mike Wright (28) in Lustleigh’s reply, which petered out at 95 for seven.

Stokeinteignhead, who lost in last season’s final to Abbotskerswell, beat Ipplepen by eight runs in the second round.

Waiting for them in the semi-final were Brixham, who had accounted for South Devon in the last eight.

Stoke must have thought the hard work was done after Sreejith Sankaranarayanan (4-12) and Jamie Clinkett (3-14) skittled Brixham for 58.

Stoke scraped home by four wickets thanks largely to an unbeaten 27 from opener Paul Russell.

The final is at Torquay Recreation Ground on Friday, June 30.

STOKEINTEIGNHEAD player-chairman Mike Lang is running into form just in time for the Brockman Cup final.

Lang slammed 98 not out off 99 balls – 10 fours – in Stoke’s total of 241 for five against Plymstock 3rd XI last time out. Chris Saunders made 36.

Bowler Lang then put the skids under Plymstock’s run chase, taking four wickets for 31 runs.

Plymstock were 207 for eight when time ran out, giving Stoke victory in the E Division West 2nd XI game by 34 runs.
