Devon Cricket Coaches Award Winners 2021

In 2021 we recognise the outstanding efforts of our Coaches through the ECB Coaches Awards.

The Devon winners of each category are as follows.

  • Jack Harman (Paignton CC) – Young Coach of the Year
  • Stephen Pritchard (Devon Coach Developer) - Outstanding Contribution - Services to Coach Development
  • Alex Clements (Ottery St Mary CC) – Coach of the Year
  • James May (Thorverton CC) - Outstanding Contribution - Services to Coaching

 

YOUNG COACH OF THE YEAR WINNER 2021 - JACK HARMAN (PAIGNTON CC) Jack Harman

At the start of the 2019 season, Paignton were without a coach for their U13 girls’ team.  Jack, then a member of U19 boy’s team, volunteered to temporarily fill the role. Three years later, Jack’s hard work, creativity and expertise has had a huge and lasting impact on girls’ cricket at Paignton Cricket Club. Jack’s enthusiasm, commitment and inspirational qualities have provided the foundations for a competitive, social and ultimately successful group of cricketing girls.

Stephen PritchardSERVICES TO COACH DEVELOPMENT 2021 - STEPHEN PRITCHARD (DEVON COACH DEVELOPER)

Stephen is an invaluable member of the Coach Developer team here in Devon.  He has been involved in coaching for many years and became involved in Coach Development in 2013.Stephen brings incredible energy to the team and courses he works on.  He has an infectious nature and really drives the candidates and other Coach Developers to challenge their own coaching styles and behaviours.




 

COACH OF THE YEAR 2021 - ALEX CLEMENTS (OTTERY ST MARY CC) Alex Clements

Alex leads on all coaching at Ottery St Mary CC, whether its for juniors, girls, women or seniors, which collectively probably amounts to 150 individuals.  As well as Ottery St Mary CC, he has also been involved with setting up the girls teams between Ottery St Mary and Whimple. Because of the positive and welcoming environment that Alex has helped to create at Ottery St Mary CC it has become an extremely popular local Club with thriving juniors, girls, womens and seniors cricket with games being played virtually every day.

James MaySERVICES TO COACHING 2021 - JAMES MAY (THORVERTON CC)

James has made a significant contribution to the colts set up since it was restarted by him and Jock Spry back in 2003. James has overseen an colts programme which started with around six colts on a Friday night and has grown to over 100 registered youth players, in his 18 years of service. That is a lot of youth cricketers that have gone through James’ sessions! He has successfully applied for Clubmark status on two occasions, safeguarded youth cricket by being heavily involved with the purchase of the ground and has been practically ever present at Thorverton’s Friday night training sessions since 2003.
