DEVON captain Alex Barrow caned former club Exeter for a rapid 65 to help Sidmouth to a 102-run win over the city side on the Fortfield.

Barrow retired at the end of the 18th over with 65 off 64 balls in a total of 101.

Josh Bess struck 39 and with Nick Mansfield (38) and Robbie Powell (27) weighing in a 40-over total of 202 for seven was reached.

Pick of a youthful Exeter bowling attack were Alec Holifield(6-0-18-0) with the new ball against Barrow and spinner Ed Middleton (3-33).

Exeter were all out for exactly 100 with more than seven overs un-bowled. Acting captain Middleton went in at 52 for five and went on to top score with 25,

Next best were new arrival Sam Read (Ex-Clyst SG) – he made 17 opening up – and Charlie Kidson (14).

Sidmouth soon had Exeter’s young side struggling at 52 for five in reply, which left Middleton (25) trying to hold things together.

Jordan Fowler worked through the Exeter middle order on his way to figures of five for 29 as Exeter were bundled out for exactly 100.

Exeter are at home to Cullompton this Saturday.
