Metters back for Bradninch in East and Mid-Devon T20 final
HOLDERS Exmouth put their Devon T20 title on the line on Sunday at finals day of the Servicemaster Clean-sponsored competition.
Exmouth, who went all the way to the NatWest T20 Club Bash final in Cardiff last season and lost to Ealing, play Heathcoat at Bradninch in the first semi-final.
The afternoon semi-final pits hosts Bradninch against Sidmouth (2pm). The final will take place sometime after 4pm.
Bradninch will be boosted by the appearance of former Devon and Warwickshire all-rounder Chris Metters for the game.
Today’s winners will go through to the county final at Sidmouth on July 24.
The full make up of finals day at Sidmouth isn’t known yet as district qualifiers are still being played out.
Plymouth play Cornwood at Plympton on July 17 in the Ivor Dewdney’s Plymouth final. The winners will play Lewdown midweek to determine a West Devon qualifier.
Ipplepen won the Teignbridge tournament and are waiting on Barton and Torquay to play the Torbay final before they play the winners for the privilege of representing the South.
North Devon are definitely going to Sidmouth on July 24 after routing Bideford by 100 runs at Barnstaple & Pilton on Friday night.
Opener Dan Bowser blazed away to 100 not out off 64 balls as North Devon amassed 185 for two.
Bowser – six fours, five sixes – put on 97 with Ed Yeo (31) and 69 with Barney Huxtable (27).
Bideford quickly fell behind the clock – Josh King (2-6) doing his old club no favours – and the chase quickly fizzled out.
From 42 for here in the seventh over when Fred King was caught behind off Ricki Kelly (2-29), Bideford crawled along to 80 for eight.
The winners at Sidmouth go through to a regional finals day involving the winners from Cornwall, Somerset and Wales.
Win that game and the next stop is the national quarter-final against for a place in finals day, which this year is at Derby on Tuesday, September 6.
