Abbots now have a Trimax Striker 190 outfield mower a Sisis 600 with scarifier and Sarrel roller attachments and a power brush sitting in the groundsman’s shed.

A grant from of more than £15,000 from Viridor Credits Environmental Company enabled the Devon League C Division West club to buy the equipment.

Paul Mitchell, who doubles up as chairman and groundsman, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received this funding and cannot thank Viridor Credits enough.

“The new outfield mower will provide a perfect finish to the outfield and the Sisis 600 will allow us to carry out both in-season and end-of-season repairs to our pitches, which are becoming increasingly used.

“We would also like to thank Devon Garden Machinery for all their help and advice throughout the funding process.”

Devon Garden Machinery have become the club’s main playing shirt sponsor with Addicott Electrics Limited sponsoring the coloured T20 playing kit.
