A Division news and views: North Devon and Torquay meet in clash of the promotion rivals

Bradninch all-rounder Mitch Pugh – highly rated by Abbotskerswell captain Nick Watkin

A DIVISION PREVIEWS – MAY 29

PLYMPTON v BUDLEIGH SALTERTON

Budleigh Salterton (Lloyd Murrin): “Charles Parkin comes up for the 2nd XI after impressing. Looking to get a result from a good side. Plympton have some seriously talented individuals whom we are wary of. We are just looking forward to playing cricket after the recent rain! We feel we have enough talent to take the points but it won't be easy.”

NORTH DEVON v TORQUAY

North Devon (Tom Popham): “Rick Wild comes into the side for Josh Atkinson. Should be a very competitive game against Torquay, who possess a good mix of experience and young talented players.”

Torquay (Mike Pugh): “It's like the start of the season and all clubs will be looking for a good return to playing, hopefully with a positive result. (Overseas arrival) Keshan Wijeratne is playing but Steve Lewis is away.”

ABBOTSKERSWELL v BRADNINCH

Abbotskerswell (Nick Watkin): “Two enforced changes for us. Neal Osborn not available; Jay Hussain in for him and no Dan CALLED-UP: Abbotskerswell's Ian Jarman Cowdry so Ian Jarman in for him. Expecting a very tough game, which is always the case when playing Bradninch. I believe in Gary Chappell and Mitch Pugh they have two of the best players in the county never mind the A Division. We have had a tough run of fixtures and none tougher than this weekend so need some luck and an outstanding team performance to win this one.”

Bradninch (Eliot Acton):  “Seems like an age since we have played any cricket so we are looking forward to it. We need to build some momentum with a win as other teams have managed to pull ahead due to the weather favouring them. Expecting a tough game and anyone with an overseas pro has the potential to be dangerous. Abbots are always competitive so expecting a hard game and we will need to get over our three weeks of no action quickly. One change as Dan Hardy returns to the side. “

SEATON v TAVISTOCK

Seaton: Mali Marshall, the son of the late Malcolm Marshall, set to make his Seaton debut after flying in from Barbados and spending a week in quarantine.

Tavistock (Shaun Daymond): “Dave Ball back in to open the batting. James White (batter) is available. Dave Manning (keeper) and Sean Cleave (spinner) unavailable.  Always had tough games with Seaton in the past. A very good side all round, so looking forward to the game and some decent weather.”
