A Division news and previews: Friend in for Cully debut | Plympton bring in 15-year-old leg-spinner

Lloyd Murrin - Budleigh

TEAM NEWS AND VIEWS FROM THE PREMIER DIVISION

PLYMPTON v BRADNINCH

Plympton (Alex Carr): “No Jack Kearns from the team last week so we're bringing Surya Suresh from the seconds. He's an under-15 county player who bats and bowls leg-spin. Another exciting young player who's developing really well so I'm interested to see how he goes. Bradninch have always been there or thereabouts in recent years so we know we're in for a tough game. Will be a good test to see how we're progressing as a side. Hopefully the weather is kind, I've never seen so many covers come out of the woodwork at the club.”

Bradninch (Eliot Acton): “Feels a bit like the first game of the season all over again. No game time or training for us for two weeks so not the ideal preparation but we will do what we can to make sure we are ready. We are expecting a really tough game against Plympton on what is never the easiest of wickets. They have some good, young players along with some familiar faces and I can't see them being outside the top three at the end of the year, especially with an overseas coming. It will be a big test for us but I'm hoping the weather stays away and we can get the season up and running.”

TORQUAY v BUDLEIGH SALTERTON

Torquay (Mike Pugh): “Hopefully looking ahead to a dry Saturday!  Sonny Baker is available. The lads are desperate to play after such a disruptive start to the season and play in a competitive environment.”

Budleigh Salterton (Lloyd Murrin): “Same team for us. Looking forward to facing a strong Torquay this weekend… weather permitting. The boys haven't played since the first game and are very keen to get going and put a statement out to the league his weekend ahead. Torquay are a good side with lots of quality, but we really feel we can get a result with the squad we have.”

NORTH DEVON v ABBOTSKERSWELL

North Devon (Tom Popham): “Rick Wild away and James Thomas with the twos. In comes James Tyson and Josh Atkinson. No games for two weeks so we are fresh and raring to go and play some cricket.”

Abbotskerswell (Nick Watkin): Team news, we are unchanged. Expecting a tough game against a team who I strongly fancy to be promoted this season. Quality throughout their side with both bat and ball and I am under no illusions how well we will have to play to compete with North Devon.

SEATON v BARTON

Seaton (Ben Morgan): One change from the opening game as Tristan Wakeley comes in for Brian Cann. Hopefully it will stop raining! Forecast looks ok. Expecting Barton to be a tough game. We have had some good games with them in the B Division over the last few years. We are looking to get our season up and running.

Barton (Adam Parker): "Unchanged for the fourth week... shame we haven't played any cricket! . I am sure we are the same as everyone, hoping to get some cricket in so we can actually get some momentum going. It's been a frustrating start so far but we are still chomping at the bit to get out and get our first win!"

TAVISTOCK v CULLOMPTON

Cullompton (Jason Parr): Lots of availability issues this week with four or five regular first teamers not around. Adam Friend and James Shere both with pre-season hundreds for the second team will be given 1st XI debuts. With the awful weather to start the season we are just looking forward to playing some cricket. Don’t know too much about Tavistock and will approach the game with nothing to lose. Both sides will be rusty having not played a lot and it’s barely even been possible to train over the past couple of weeks so it could be an opportunity to pick up a good result.”
