Buzza rules out regular return of former county captain Dawson (pictured)

Bob Dawson – just helping out says Exmouth skipper Andy Buzza

EXMOUTH are away to Seaton this Saturday.

Seaton have selection issues that have forced skipper Ben Morgan to delay naming his side.

No such worries for Exmouth, who welcome back batting all-rounder Billy Rudolph and give leg-spinner Rory Craib an outing at firs-team level.

Some people might have expected to see Bob Dawson’s name on the Exmouth teamsheet after he made 112 for the second team last Saturday on his first appearance of the season.

The former Gloucestershire batter and Devon captain turns 50 this year and for all practical purposes retired from cricket last season.

Andy Buzza, the Exmouth captain, said Dawson was just ‘helping out’ against Exeter 2nd XI.

“I doubt he will play again this season but will always help out the club when he can,” said Buza.

Budleigh Salterton host Premier leaders Sidmouth keen to make amends for a below-par showing against Seaton.

Budleigh lost by 80 runs and the margin and the manner of the defeat were not acceptable.

Joel Murphy, the senior player in the Budleigh team, said skipper Lloyd Murrin will be looking for a response of some sort against Sidmouth this Saturday.

“The best way to describe how we played against Seaton is limply,” said Murphy.

“Having given Sidmouth a real go the week before our level of performance against Seaton was very disappointing.

“We need to pick ourselves up and go again.”
