Yelverton begin Diamond Jubilee Celebrations with team golf day at Tavistock

YELVERTON Bohemians are celebrating their 60thanniversary this year and to commemorate the landmark have organised a number of celebratory events.

One of the first anniversary events is a golf day at Tavistock GC on Sunday, March 29.

The format will be a four-player team Texas Scramble and will include individual prizes for nearest the pin, longest drive and team prizes. The first tee times will be at 1.30pm.

The cost is £35 per person (£140 per team) and includes a meal afterwards.

There will also be a raffle and the prizes include tickets to a Somerset CCC fixture in 2020.

To enter a team contact the club via social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) or email frazer.reed@gmail.com

“There are a limited number of tee times available, so to avoid disappointment we would recommend that you try to get your entry in as soon as possible please,” said YBCC vice-chairman Chris Pearson.

“All funds raised will go to towards developing Yelverton Bohemians CC and help provide grass-roots recreational cricket and fun for all ages and abilities.”

The original Yelverton Cricket Club was formed in the early 1900s and in its more affluent days employed a professional.

The current club dates from 1960 when Yelverton combined with Plymouth Bohemians.

As one of the premier clubs in the county at the time, Yelverton Bohemians were one of the 12 founder members of the Devon Senior League in 1972.
